# The best AI CFO and AI financial advisor apps in India

**In short**

- "AI financial advisor" apps in India fall into a few kinds: investment platforms, expense trackers, neobank insights, credit card apps, SEBI-registered advisory services, general AI chatbots and AI CFOs like Kosh.
- Check six things first: what data it needs, whether it asks for logins, whether it can move money, how it keeps Indian tax rules current, its SEBI status and how it makes money.
- Only a SEBI-registered investment adviser may recommend specific securities to you. Most apps, Kosh included, are not RIAs.
- Kosh is our product. It reads your statements, maps your money, plans tax under both regimes and reminds you, and it can't move money. We haven't ranked other apps.

## How we wrote this

Kosh is our product, so we haven't scored or ranked anyone else. Instead, this guide groups the options by what they do, describes other products only in terms of what their own public sites say, and lists the questions we think every app, including ours, should be able to answer. Features change often, so check each app's own pages before deciding.

## What to check before you upload anything

1. **What data it needs.** Statements you upload, SMS access, linked accounts through the RBI's account aggregator framework, or your broker login? Each gives the app a different view and a different level of access.
2. **Whether it asks for logins or OTPs.** A planning tool shouldn't need your net-banking password, OTPs or card numbers. Be careful with any app that does.
3. **Whether it can move money.** An app that can pay, invest or transfer for you is also a payments or investment platform. That's useful, but it's a different level of risk from an app that only reads.
4. **How it knows Indian tax rules.** Slabs, rebates and limits change each Budget. Does the app show the tax year, the date and the source of its rules? Compare its answer with our [income tax calculator](/tools/income-tax-calculator).
5. **Its SEBI status.** Only a SEBI-registered investment adviser may give you personalised recommendations on specific securities. If an app tells you which fund to buy, look for its RIA number. See [Kosh vs a fee-only adviser](/compare/kosh-vs-fee-only-financial-adviser).
6. **How it makes money.** Commissions, lending referrals, ads or your subscription? A free app that earns when you buy something has a reason to suggest you buy it.

## The kinds of apps available in India

### Investment platforms with AI or analysis features

Apps such as INDmoney, ET Money, Groww and Zerodha's apps are where many people actually buy mutual funds and shares. They show your holdings and returns, and some add portfolio analysis or tracking across accounts. They're strong on investments and weaker on the rest of your money: card spending, rent, EMIs and tax under both regimes. Some offer advisory services through a registered entity; read their disclosures. Our comparisons with [INDmoney](/compare/kosh-vs-indmoney), [ET Money](/compare/kosh-vs-et-money) and [Groww and Zerodha](/compare/kosh-vs-groww-zerodha) go into detail.

### Expense trackers

Budgeting apps read SMS alerts, linked accounts or what you type, and chart where money goes. They're good at the daily habit. Few work out tax, and many stop at charts rather than telling you what to change. See [Kosh vs expense tracker apps](/compare/kosh-vs-expense-tracker-apps).

### Neobank and bank-app insights

Many banking apps now categorise spending on that account. The view is limited to that one account, so a second bank or a credit card from another issuer is invisible. See [Kosh vs neobank insights](/compare/kosh-vs-neobank-insights).

### Credit card apps

Apps like CRED help you pay card bills, track due dates and collect rewards. They're useful for card hygiene, but they don't map your whole income and spending or plan tax. See [Kosh vs CRED](/compare/kosh-vs-cred).

### SEBI-registered advisers, including digital ones

If you want someone to tell you exactly which funds to hold, you want a SEBI RIA, whether a person or an advisory service delivered through an app. You pay a fee, and they're accountable to SEBI.

### General-purpose AI chatbots

You can paste a statement into a general AI chatbot and ask questions, and it will often give a sensible-sounding answer. Two cautions. **Privacy:** you're uploading account numbers and transactions to a service whose data settings you should read first, and you may want to redact details. **Accuracy:** general chatbots can misread tables, get arithmetic wrong, and quote Indian tax rules from the wrong year. They also don't remember your statements month to month or remind you before anything is due.

### AI CFOs, including Kosh

An [AI CFO](/learn/what-is-an-ai-cfo) reads your statements and keeps working on your whole financial picture. Kosh reads bank, card and investment statements from any Indian bank, opens locked PDFs in your browser, sorts every transaction, finds leaks, works out tax under both regimes from rules kept dated and cited, plans goals with SIP amounts and reminds you before due dates. It never asks for bank logins, can't move money, isn't an RIA and earns only from subscriptions.

## Which kind suits you

- **You mainly want to invest:** an investment platform, plus an RIA if you want specific recommendations.
- **You want a daily spending habit:** an expense tracker.
- **You want the whole picture, tax and a plan, without linking accounts:** an AI CFO like Kosh.
- **You have something complex:** a [chartered accountant](/compare/kosh-vs-chartered-accountant) for tax, an RIA for investments.

## Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI financial advisor app in India?

It depends on what you need. Investment platforms suit buying funds and shares, expense trackers suit daily budgeting, SEBI-registered advisers suit personal recommendations, and an AI CFO suits a year-round view of your money and tax. Check data access, SEBI status and how each app earns before choosing.

Can an AI app legally recommend mutual funds or stocks in India?

Personalised recommendations on specific securities for a fee require registration with SEBI as an investment adviser. Apps that aren't registered can explain categories and do calculations but shouldn't tell you which fund or stock to buy. Look for an RIA number if an app gives specific advice.

Is it safe to upload my bank statement to ChatGPT or another AI chatbot?

Read the chatbot's data and training settings first, and consider removing account numbers and personal details. General chatbots can also misread tables, make arithmetic errors and quote outdated Indian tax rules, so check any tax figure against a current calculator.

Is Kosh a SEBI-registered investment adviser?

No. Kosh is an AI CFO and educational planning tool. It maps your money, works out tax under both regimes and plans goals, but it doesn't recommend specific securities, can't move money and earns only from subscriptions.

What should I check before using an AI money app?

Check what data it needs, whether it asks for bank logins or OTPs, whether it can move money, how it keeps Indian tax rules current, whether it is SEBI registered if it recommends investments, and how it makes money.
