**In short**

- CRED is built for payments: credit card bill payments, UPI, rewards for members, and credit through bank and NBFC partners.
- Kosh is built for planning: what you spend, what leaks, your tax under both regimes and your goals.
- CRED's disclosures say it acts as a lending service provider for its lending partners. Kosh earns only from subscriptions and doesn't offer credit.
- Kosh can't pay bills or move money. It reminds you before card due dates so you pay in full wherever you pay.
- Using both is common: CRED to pay, Kosh to understand the bill.

## Different tools for different jobs

CRED and Kosh both deal with credit cards, which is why they get compared. But they do different things with them. CRED is where you **pay** the bill and earn rewards for doing so. Kosh is where you **understand** the bill: what's in it, whether you're paying interest, and how it fits with the rest of your month.

## What CRED is built for

[CRED's website](https://cred.club/) describes credit card bill payments for major Indian banks, card management with payment reminders, fee alerts and spending insights, UPI payments including UPI on credit, tap to pay, and rewards such as cashback and brand offers. It also lists CRED garage for car details, and CRED money, CRED mint and CRED cash+ in its menu. Membership needs a credit score of 750 or above.

CRED's [other disclosures page](https://cred.club/legal/other-disclosures) says Dreamplug Technologies Private Limited, the company behind CRED, acts as a lending service provider for its lending partners, which are banks and NBFCs, and that the CRED app operates as a digital lending app for them.

## What Kosh is built for

Kosh reads your credit card statements alongside your bank and investment statements and sorts every transaction. That lets it answer the questions that a payments app isn't designed to:

- **Are you paying interest?** Kosh flags card interest and charges, and explains the [minimum due trap](/learn/credit-card-minimum-due-trap).
- **Where is the money going?** Delivery creep, forgotten subscriptions and spends that grew quietly over three months.
- **What's your tax?** Your income tax under both regimes from your real salary, rent and investments.
- **What's due?** Email reminders before every card due date, SIP, renewal and tax deadline, wherever you pay them.

**What Kosh never touches**

Kosh never asks for card numbers, bank logins or OTPs, and it can't make payments. It only reads the statements you upload.

## How each one earns money

Kosh earns only from subscriptions. It doesn't offer loans or credit and doesn't take commissions from banks, card issuers or insurers. CRED is free for members, and its own disclosures describe its role as a lending service provider for bank and NBFC partners. When an app offers credit as well as insights, it's worth reading any credit offer on its own terms, including the interest rate and fees, before you accept it.

## Rewards are small; interest is not

Card rewards and cashback usually come to a small share of what you spend. Interest on a balance you carry forward is charged every month, commonly at 3% to 3.75% a month (roughly 36% to 45% a year; check your card's terms), and it can apply to new purchases too until the balance is cleared. So the first question for any card is not which app pays the best reward, but whether you're paying the bill in full. Try the numbers on your own balance with the [credit card interest calculator](/tools/credit-card-interest-calculator).

## Who should use which

- **CRED** suits you if you want to pay several card bills from one place, use UPI and collect member rewards.
- **Kosh** suits you if you want to know where your card spends go, stop paying interest, and plan tax and goals around your cash flow.
- **Both** work together: pay through CRED or your bank's app, and upload the card statement to Kosh each month.

## Frequently asked questions

Can I pay my credit card bill on Kosh?

No. Kosh cannot move money or make payments, and it never asks for card numbers. It reminds you by email before each card due date so you can pay in full from any app.

How does CRED make money?

CRED is free for members. Its own disclosures page says Dreamplug Technologies, the company behind CRED, acts as a lending service provider for its bank and NBFC lending partners, and the app operates as a digital lending app for them.

Does Kosh offer loans or credit?

No. Kosh earns only from subscriptions and takes no commissions from banks, card issuers, fund houses or insurers. It can help you plan to pay off card debt, but it never offers credit.
