# Kosh vs INDmoney: which one do you need?

INDmoney is an investing app with a net-worth tracker. Kosh is an AI CFO that reads your statements and plans your spending, tax and goals. They overlap less than the search results suggest, so here's what each one actually does.

**In short**

- INDmoney is built for investing: Indian and US stocks, mutual funds, F&O, IPOs and ETFs, with a view of your net worth.
- Kosh is built for the rest of your money: spending, leaks, tax under both regimes, goals and reminders, worked out from your own statements.
- INDmoney's broking company is a SEBI-registered stock broker and a mutual fund distributor; Kosh can't execute trades or move money at all.
- Kosh earns only from subscriptions. INDmoney's own disclaimers describe it as a broker and distributor.
- Many people will use both: one to invest, one to plan.

## Two apps built for different jobs

People often search for an INDmoney alternative when what they really want is a clearer picture of their money. It helps to separate two jobs. One is **investing**: choosing, buying and tracking stocks and funds. The other is **running your money**: knowing where your salary goes, which tax regime leaves you more, what to fix first and what's due next week. INDmoney is built mainly for the first job. Kosh is built for the second.

## What INDmoney is built for

INDmoney's [website](https://www.indmoney.com/) lists Indian stocks, US stocks, mutual funds, F&O, IPOs, commodities, ETFs and NPS, alongside a tracker that shows your investments, family accounts and net worth in one place. Its [disclaimers page](https://www.indmoney.com/page/disclaimers) names INDstocks Private Limited (formerly INDmoney Private Limited) as a SEBI-registered stock broker and depository participant, and says it acts as a distributor for products such as mutual funds, SIPs and IPOs. The same page says it does not provide portfolio management services and is not an investment adviser.

If you want to buy a US stock, start a SIP or trade on the exchange from one app, that's what INDmoney is designed to do.

## What Kosh is built for

Kosh is an AI CFO. You upload bank, credit card and investment statements (PDF, CSV or a photo, from any Indian bank, plus your CAMS or NSDL CAS) and it sorts every transaction. From that it maps income, spending, debt and savings, finds leaks, and works out your income tax under both regimes from your real salary, rent and investments. Then it keeps going: goal plans with monthly SIP amounts, email reminders before card due dates, SIPs, renewals and tax deadlines, a Sunday digest, and a chat CFO that answers with your own numbers.

- **Tax, from real numbers.** Which regime leaves you more this year, and what to do before 31 March. See the [old vs new regime guide](/learn/old-vs-new-tax-regime-fy-2026-27).
- **Leaks.** Forgotten subscriptions, card interest, delivery creep and cash sitting idle.
- **Planning, not picking.** Kosh explains categories such as index funds, liquid funds and PPF, and works out how much to put away each month. It never recommends a specific fund or stock.

## How each one earns money

This matters because it shapes what an app nudges you towards. Kosh earns only from subscriptions: it doesn't sell data or take commissions from banks, fund houses or insurers. INDmoney's own disclosures describe a stock broker and a distributor of mutual funds and IPOs, so it earns from activity on its platform. Neither model is wrong; they're different. A broker is built to help you transact well. A paid planning tool is built to help you decide.

## When to use both

Kosh doesn't execute trades, so if you invest through INDmoney you keep doing that. What Kosh adds is the layer above: how much you can sensibly invest after rent, EMIs and an [emergency fund](/learn/how-much-emergency-fund-do-i-need), whether your SIPs line up with your goals, and how your gains will be taxed. Upload your CAS and bank statements to Kosh, and keep using your broker to buy and sell.

### A month with both

1. Your salary lands and your SIPs run on the dates you set with your broker.
2. At month end, you download your bank and card statements and your CAS, and upload them to Kosh.
3. Kosh sorts the month, flags anything that leaked, and checks whether your SIPs still match each goal and your tax plan for the year.
4. If the plan says invest more or less, you change the SIP where you hold it. Kosh reminds you before the next due date.
