# Kosh vs Wealthsimple: holding your money vs planning it

Wealthsimple is where many Canadians keep a TFSA, invest, bank and file their taxes. Kosh doesn't hold money or file anything. It reads statements from all your accounts, Wealthsimple included, and plans across them.

**In short**

- Wealthsimple is a financial platform: it holds accounts like TFSAs, RRSPs and RESPs, offers chequing and managed investing, and sells tax-filing software.
- Kosh holds nothing. It's an AI CFO that reads statements from every bank, card and investment account you have and tells you what to do next.
- They're not substitutes. You might hold money at Wealthsimple, file with Wealthsimple Tax and use Kosh to plan across Wealthsimple and your other banks.
- If you need somewhere to open an account or file a return, Kosh can't do that. If you want one plan across all your accounts, including those at other institutions, that's Kosh's job.

## Different jobs, not rivals

Wealthsimple is where money lives. As of 31 October 2026, its pricing page lists TFSAs, RESPs, RRSPs, non-registered accounts, crypto, a Save account and chequing, with tiers based on how much you hold: Core from $1, Premium from $100,000 and Generation from $500,000. It also sells Wealthsimple Tax, a NETFILE-certified program for filing your return.

Kosh is where the plan lives. It doesn't hold money, invest it or file returns. It reads statements from every institution you use, including Wealthsimple, and works out what to do: how much RRSP room to use this year, whether the TFSA or FHSA comes first, which card is costing you interest, which subscriptions you've forgotten. It's an [AI CFO](/learn/what-is-an-ai-cfo).

## What Wealthsimple does that Kosh can't

- **Opens and holds accounts.** You can open a TFSA, RRSP, RESP or chequing account. Kosh can't.
- **Invests your money.** Managed portfolios charge 0.5% on Core, 0.4% on Premium and 0.2% to 0.4% on Generation, as of 31 October 2026, for selecting assets, rebalancing and reinvesting dividends. Kosh doesn't invest and doesn't recommend specific securities.
- **Files your return.** Wealthsimple Tax Basic is pay-what-you-want (even $0), Plus is $40 and Pro is $80, plus tax, as of 31 October 2026.

## What Kosh adds on top

- **One view across every bank.** Many people also have a big-bank chequing account, a couple of credit cards and maybe a workplace plan. Kosh reads them all from statements.
- **Spending and leaks.** Card interest, bank fees, subscriptions and idle cash, with dollar amounts.
- **Tax planning before December 31.** Filing software works on the year that's over. Kosh shows your marginal rate during the year and what an RRSP, FHSA or donation would save while there's still time. See [RRSP vs TFSA](/learn/rrsp-vs-tfsa).
- **Reminders.** RRSP deadline, instalments, filing day and card due dates.

## Using both

1. **Upload your Wealthsimple statements to Kosh** along with your other bank and card statements.
2. **Let Kosh set the order:** emergency fund, high-interest debt, then which registered account to fill first for your income. See [how to start investing in Canada](/learn/how-to-start-investing-canada).
3. **Make the contributions wherever you hold your accounts,** Wealthsimple or elsewhere. Kosh can't move money; you stay in control.
4. **At tax time, file with the software you prefer.** Kosh's year-round numbers help you check the result.
